How is the schedule
different from the current year?
The elementary schools will begin 15 minutes
later and dismiss 15 minutes earlier than they do under the
current schedule.
The middle school and high school will be
starting 15 minutes earlier and dismissing 15 minutes earlier
than they currently do.
All of the students in the K-8 schools will
start and dismiss at the same time. By moving to a
uniform school day for all students in the K-8 schools, the
number of transportation runs will decrease, resulting in
significant cost savings.
Why the change?
During the budget development process, district
officials closely examined many areas to find
cost-saving measures in order to balance a very difficult
budget. The goal was to make cuts that would have little
impact on student educational programs and opportunities.
Transportation expenses and possible modification to the school
day were part of the review. It was determined that
changes to the school schedule would not only result in cost
savings but would also provide teachers with some morning
preparation time. The schedule has an extra half hour
built in at the beginning of the day for elementary school
teachers to spend time planning and collaborating.
Transportation
Parents will receive the bus transportation
schedule over the summer. Please review it carefully since
the schedules and some of the routes have changed.
