Five Guys - Mohawk
Commons is presented
with BOE Golden Apple Award this month
The Schenectady City School District Board of Education
presented The Golden Apple Award to Tejraj Hada, Bob Brown and
Mike Grecco of Five Guys Restaurant in Mohawk Commons. The
Golden Apple Award is to recognize anyone who has contributed an
outstanding amount of time, talent or effort to the Schenectady
City School District. The recipients were nominated by
Gary Farkas.
Mr. Farkas wrote:
As everyone knows,
it takes the cooperation of the local community to make our
schools successful. From the moment Five Guys - Mohawk
Commons opened for business, they became a frequent contributor
to Schenectady schools.
Over the past few
years, they have allowed our student groups and PTOs to raise
money by hosting events at their store. They would go out
of their way to make sure each event was successful.
This past summer
when some unfortunate events happened in the community, Five Guys
again took an active role in trying to make life better for
several of our families. Instead of holding the
normal event, they allowed us to raise funds based on an
entire day of sales. In addition, they suspended the need
for each participant to have a coupon prior to their order.
They also provided a U-Haul truck to collect household items and clothing for the recipients.
While many
businesses contribute to the success of our schools, Five Guys
has shown a continued commitment. I am pleased to
nominate them for a Golden Apple award to show our appreciation.
