Facts About Our School
Hamilton Elementary School was built on  the corner of 7th and Webster Streets in 1914 at a cost of $210,000. The new building replaced the old 6th Avenue School.  In 1992 - 1993, Hamilton had one million dollar refurbishing done.  During the summer of 2000 - 2001, the school underwent major renovations.

Origin of School Name

Hamilton was named in honor of Alexander Hamilton (1755-1804) a founding father of the U.S. of America, the first Secretary of the U.S. Treasury, a major author of the Federalist Papers and an advocate of a strong central government.  Hamilton was shot and mortally wounded in a duel with Aaron Burr (1756-1836), Vice-President of the U.S. (1801 - 1805).
