Hamilton Elementary School
Literacy Night at
Hamilton
Hamilton
Elementary School students and their families celebrated
Literacy Night a few weeks ago. The parents learned about
the new spelling program Words Their Way as well as ways
to get their children excited about learning by using read
alouds at home. A read aloud is a planned oral reading of
a book or excerpt, usually related to a theme or topic of study
and can be used to engage the student listener while developing
background knowledge, increasing comprehension skills, and
fostering critical thinking
While the
parents were learning about the programs, the children were
playing Words Their Way board games, making book marks,
watching a movie about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and enjoying
some pizza.
Every one who
attended had a good time is looking forward to the next school event
