Strategic Planning Update

Why are we creating a strategic plan?

  • To define the collective vision for success 5 years from now; offers a touchstone/ why for commitment

  • To prioritize key strategies to achieve excellence

  • To gather input from stakeholder groups, inclusive of all members of our community, in defining our desired future

 

What have we accomplished so far?

  • Offered 23 opportunities for stakeholders (students, parents/ families, community members, employees, and leaders) to provide input for our strategic plan

  • Recorded feedback from over 200 people

  • Identified common themes across these groups

 

What did we hear?

  • Overall, stakeholders told us that our district’s strengths are our innovative approaches to equity and cultural competency, Trauma-Sensitive Schools, and our Urban Schools Conference; how we provide advanced learning opportunities like IB and Smart Scholars as well as how we strive to meet students’ needs through school meals, food programs, health services, and after-school and summer programming.

  • Our district’s opportunities include improving our internal and external communications; reducing bias and increasing equity for all students; establishing consistency across classrooms, programs, and schools; treating all students, families, employees, and community members fairly and with dignity, and engaging our parents and families as partners to support student success.

 

What’s next?

  • Leaders will use stakeholder input and data on our district’s performance to propose priorities and measures of success back to stakeholders.

  • Look for opportunities to provide your input on the draft priorities and measures in early November through the online tool Thought Exchange.
