School is organized by five houses:
Thomas
Edison
School of Math, Science and Technology
The mission of the Math, Science, Technology House, an
innovative, hands-on learning environment integrating modern
technology with a supportive staff, is to facilitate, challenge
and inspire creative thinking to prepare students for success.
12th grade internships; summer camp for women and minorities and
more.
GE
Scholars School of Humanities and Culture
The mission is to improve student academic performance,
promote study in Humanities and Global Societies, Justice, Law &
University Ethics, Environmental & Community Management, and the
field of Education. Program is designed to prepare students for
college.
Sayles
School of Fine Arts
The Sayles School of Fine Arts is a multicultural
collaboration of students, teachers, artists, administrators,
parents and the community who value students' artistic
excellence and academic achievement. The mission is to foster
academic and artistic exploration and growth in alignment with
the New York State Learning Standards.
The School of Global Commerce
The School of Global Commerce features curriculum that will
introduce the student to international economies and business
cultures. Students can earn up to twelve college credits in
conjunction with SCCC from a variety of course offerings.
Steinmetz Career and Leadership Academy
The Steinmetz
Career and Leadership Academy (SCALA), is a house of the high
school but located on the Steinmetz School campus. The
program, open to 9th and 10th graders, utilizes non-traditional
methods to deliver instruction and is specifically designed for
students who have had difficulty staying on task and learning by
traditional means and are at risk of not being successful in
high school. The academy presents a unique opportunity to
work one-on-one with a teacher and coach while primarily
utilizing technology to work independently and at an individual
pace.
