Enrolling Students in your Course Site

Middle School and High School

All the students in the middle schools and high schools have been created on the Blackboard system.

Please do not  batch enroll or batch create students into a class/course site.

Each student in your course site must be enrolled individually.

To do this:
Open up the Control Panel of your course site.
Select the Enroll User  link.
Search for your students by typing in their student number. Select the username box underneath the search field. Select Search.
Select the student that has their id number next to it.
An example would be:
Smith, Joey 13567  13567@student.schenectady.k12.ny.us
None

Check the box before the students name and click the Submit button on the bottom of the page.

To see a list of the students that are enrolled in your course:in the Control Panel  click the List/Modify Users link. Select the List All  tab and then the List All  button.

Enrollment for Elementary School

Please contact your Bb Instructional Manager for directions.

End of Course Clean Up

At the end of each quarter, semester or school year, teachers need to back up and recycle the information on the Blackboard site. There are four simple procedures that need to be performed:

  • Make your course site "Unavailable".

  • Export your current Gradebook

  • Archive your course site

  • Recycle your course site

Please consult the tutorial on the Schenectady City Schools Intranet  for instructions and information about performing the above tasks.

Gradebook Tips

Same Course, Multiple Sections

If you are teaching multiple sections of the same course but don't want to use a Bbd course site for each section, here is a way to enroll each of your classes in the same course site and differentiate them by period/mod in the gradebook.

 - In the Gradebook, add a New Item
and call it Section

 - Categorize it as Other

 - Set Possible Points to O

 - Display as Text

 - Within Options, select Yes to Make
item available to users
and
No
to Include
Item in Gradebook score calculations.

To add the period/mod number to the Gradebook:

 -  Click on the student name.

 - Select User Grade List.

 - Add the period/mod number to the Grade box, select Submit.

To sort by section, click the arrow above the Section column.

Making Assessments Available for Students on Your Course Site

Can't find and assessment , but you know you created it?

There are two steps you MUST follow in order to make your assessments available to your students.

1. Deploy your Assessment - In the Control Panel, select the content area where you want the assessment to be available. On the Add bar, select Test. From the menu, select the test you want to make available. Submit.

2. Modify the Test Options - Once you get the receipt that indicates the test has been make available, select the Modify Test Options link.  Be sure to select the Make the Link Available button.  All Test options are set at the discretion of the instructor.
