School Bus Safety Tips

Transportation Guidelines

Information About Bus Stops

Measuring Distances

Riding District Buses
The policy for all public, private and parochial schools includes:

Transportation for students in grades K-5 who attend schools more than 1.0 mile, but less than 5.5 miles from their legal residence; and for students in grades 6-12 who attend schools more than 1.5 miles, but less than 5.5 miles from their legal residence.

Special needs transportation only for disabled children in accordance with the recommendations of the Committee for Special Education.

Child Bus Safety Notice for Parents
Parents are urged to discuss with their children the potential dangers associated with clothing and other items which carry drawstrings or straps.  These items such as backpacks, long scarves and coats hanging freely can get caught in the bus door as the student disembarks and lead to tragedy.  Please remove all drawstrings from student clothing and advise your children to be aware of these potential dangers.

A Note to Kindergarten Parents
As newcomers to school, kindergarten children need to know the rules of riding the bus.  Parents play an important role in making this happen.  Please take time to explain to you children the rules of school bus safety and help us transport your child safely.  You are required to escort your child to and from the bus stop so that you can help us teach the rules of bus safety
